Kyudo is a traditional Japanese art that uses the bow as a means of developing the person.
Kyudo takes the warrior technique of archery and the Confucian concept of Rei (respect for another), and
transforms the shooting of bow and arrow into a discipline that brings about changes in us. These changes affect our day to day lives. Kyudo then becomes a ‘Way.
It is not violent or aggressive, is accessible to men and women of all ages (minimum age 16) and due to its essentially Japanese origin, those who have an interest in that culture will find it particularly fascinating.

The North Wales Group is a recognized member of the United Kingdom
Kyudo Association.
It’s leader. Peter Cassidy has been in practice for 15 years and was awarded 5th Dan ranking by the All Nippon Kyudo Federation in 2008 in a formal grading process
The group offers guidance and support to beginners and experienced alike, using authentic equipment within the highest standards of safety. Strength is not an issue as bows of varying weights are available; what is required are patience, determination and commitment to an activity over the longer term, but whose benefits can be felt within a relative short period of time.
Initially equipment will be provided.
After a short period of training students will be required to buy their own uniform and later their own equipment.
Membership of the North Wales Group gives access to National Seminars and an annual Grading Seminar in Europe. The gradings are carried out by High Ranking European teachers and Japanese Masters.
